How does one configure a SSD (OS) and HDD (programs)

Basically the title. How would one setup a SSD for the OS and the HDD for programs and such. Would one be required to setup raid or something? If I left out any information feel free to ask.

In case you guys were wondering, yes it's me again asking this. I have a bad habit of letting something slip through even if I don't fully understand it but this time I will try to understand it.

when installing a program just select custom and select the drive you wish to use for programs and whatever folder you want them in on the drive.

So you're saying I plug in both drives. Boot it up and install the OS on the SSD and programs on the HDD and the system will do the rest?

go into the bios and set your sata ports to ahci.
save and power down.
install the ssd on the lowest numbered sata port and an optical drive on the highest.
power up
insert the windows installation dvd and install the os to the ssd.
once done you can power down and install the hdd on sata 1 and power back up
you can now install program to the ssd by selecting the c: drive if you want
selecting d: will install them to the hdd.
