I've just bought an i5 6500 3.2ghz and a 'MSI B150M MORTAR Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard' which cannot overclock.

But how does the Turbo Clock work? Is it like regular overclocking or does it happen automatically?

If it can go to the 3.6ghz that "turbo clock" does that mean I need a CPU cooler? It seems that the i5 6500 at base clock doesn't need a new CPU cooler.

Thanks for any information

So as far as gaming goes, it's basically a 3.6ghz quad core rather than the box advertised 3.2ghz? That's very helpful, thank you

More or less, although the maximum turbo depends on how many cores are in use. If the game is primarily single threaded, it would turbo to 3.6 GHz, if the game can take full advantage of all 4 cores it would only turbo to 3.3 GHz.
