How does this look for a sub-$1000 gaming pc?

So I'm building a computer for the first time in about 10 years. I'm wanting something that can handle higher-end gaming graphics for the next year. I'd also like something with good overclock potential, hence the AMD.
What I'm having trouble with right now is prices seem kind of inflated on GPUs, as well as i5-K processors. Or maybe I've merely been spoiled by first starting to check prices around Thanksgiving. Am I better off waiting to buy components until after the holiday season?
In a perfect world, I'd bring the build to under $800 but with room for upgrades in the near-future. Here's what I have so far, and thanks for your thoughts.

Couple of things I would change (though it might take you just a smidge over 1000) first get a 2x4gb kit of memory not a single 8gb stick, dual channel does help a noticeable amount. Second thing is I just bought myself a 760, and you can get the OCed Evga version for 259, I think the upgrade is worth $10 over the reference cards.

actually I made the changes and came out nearly identical... I might would splurge for either Gskill or Kingston ram but that should work fine.
