After some research, I think the CPU I will be getting is the Athlon 64 3000. As for the MB, I like the MSI K8T Neo, and the ASUS K8V (After reading this article http://www6.tomshardware.com/motherboard/20031201/index.html). I will most likely go with one of those, the only concern I have is how does the K8T800 chipset compare with the Nforce3. If anyone has any suggestions outside of the 8 listed in that article, please let me know.

If you dont really need firewire then I suggest the Soltek k8an2e-gr, based on the nforce3 250gb. I have it here and it is fast, stable and affordable. the board in the test are the old one, based on the first version of chipset.

The k8an2e-gr is listed at new egg for 90$. I have installed so far XP with SP2 and XP 64 bits without any problems. There is other good board too, but dont know them as I did not work with them, but stay away from those in the list.

-Always put the blame on you first, then on the hardware !!!

SiS makes better chipsets than VIA, nVidia's nForce3 250 is better than SiS's chipsets. Read the latest Winfast board review at Anandtech.

Abit has come out with an nforce3 250 board, and it is not very expensive <A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=13-127-190&depa=0" target="_new">http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=13-127-190&depa=0</A> If you prefer asus the K8N <A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=13-131-512&depa=0" target="_new">http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=13-131-512&depa=0</A> is nice, or you could get the deluxe version, though the price change is not worth the extras, to me.
