Do I have to update BIOS it if I upgrade to a different cpu with a different gen, model, and manufacturer?
I am currently using Skylake i5 6400 2.7GHz, if I go for the i7 6700K Skylake or i7 7700K(Kabylake) do I have to update BIOS? My motherboard is ASUS H110I G11CD and I'm not sure if upgrading to either one of those processors require updates. My PC is a prebuilt and the model number is WS51, couldnt find motherboard manual since its a modified mobo.

Found the model number for mobo but no luck when searched: h110-i/g11cd/dp_mb

the 110 board will need to upgrade to support kaby lake, skylake is what it was made for so all good there.
you will need a skylake chip to flash the BIOS.
the BIOS is firmware, software that is written electrically to a CMOS (Complimentary Metal Oxide Semi-conductor the chip the BIOS is written to)
the BIOS (Basic Input/Output system) is like an OS that the motherboard uses to function. if the OS cannot see the kaby lake chip, it needs to be flashed so that it can. its kind of like a driver update for the OS the motherboard uses.

Where do I get skylake or kabylake chip? So if my board is made for skylake does that mean I can upgrade to any skylake processor that as the same socket type?

yes
I thought you had an i5 6400 that is a skylake chip, so is the i7 6700k. the K means the chip is overclockable, with your motherboard I would look for the 6700 non k version. why pay for a feature you cannot use?
the 7700k is kaby lake and also a k series which would be money wasted with your motherboard, look for non k variant.
you can use the current i5 to upgrade the BIOS so support the 7th generation kaby lake chips, the first number in the name is the generation, the 6400 is a sixth generation chip, the 7x00 is a 7th generation kabylake chip

So since the i5 6400 skylake is already installed, all I have to do is flash it? How do I "flash" it if I want to upgrade to an I7 7700? I just want to know the all the steps of updating the BIOS if I want to switch from i5 6400 to i7 7700.

uuhhh, I might be a little late but I'm in the exact same situation. But the link @R_1 linked isnt working anymore. I'm getting the i7 7700k and I currently have the i5 6400 I'd love if I Could get some help 😀
