How far can you throw huge rocks?

I ask this because I've got a potential strategy for...

.... gaining access to the RotHK without a wand of cold/bridge building.
Huge rocks destroy doors, so if you could throw one four spaces, you
could break the door down. Then ol' Skeletor could be tempted out of the
room, letting you teleport in.
Trouble is, you'd need to be monstrously strong. My current trollish
farmer, with a strength of 33, can only throw it two spaces. Would the
Thrown rocks skill increase the distance? 'Strong thrower' would seem to
be the answer, but it might not apply to huge rocks, as they are
missiles, not weapons.

No, actually the real trouble is that you aren't allowed to teleport on
that level. Opening the door is easy as wands of knocking (I'd suspect
also the spell but haven't ever happened to try that) can be used from
afar and the skeleton king is able to open doors. He won't pick up the
ring either so you really do need to build the bridge.

What could work here is a pet or summoned creature which is able to ignore
water and also able to pick up objects. I am not sure if such a creature
exists.
