HI All

Ive been putting off building a comp for various reasons since black friday. I went to microcenter the other day and noticed the price dropped on the 2600, its now 139.99. I was reading about the new AMD 3000s. Supposedly the lowest model is supposed to be faster than the 2700 and the release price is supposed to be 199.99 If this is the case do you think there will be a drastic price cut coming on the 2700 in the next few weeks?

I doubt the prices will drop significantly until November on 2nd gen at MC. This might depend somewhat on gaming performance benchmarks and any new announcements that crop up at E3 between now and zen2 launch though. They've already got the 8 cores pitted against launch prices on the new 6 cores. Based on last November and current 1st gen pricing I'd guess we'll see something like this at Micro Center during Black Friday month:

2700x $200
2700 $150
2600x $125
2600 $100
1700x $100
2400g $100
2200g $50
1600 $50

Expect motherboard bundle eligibility to come and go as the parts fall into these price ranges. The 1st gen stock might dry up before November and is more likely to see significant discounts before then. This is all pure speculation from someone who has bought a ridiculous amount of Ryzen CPU's from MC in the last year. I follow their pricing closely. Take it for what it is though. At the end of the day your guess is as good as anyone else's.

I don't think they will drop much from current prices because there were big price reductions in April. I assume because maybe Ryzen sales slowed in anticipation of the new generation.

That said when 3000 comes out there are bound to be lots of good deals to be had on 2000 series on eBay.

However why would you want to buy 2000 when 3000 has PCI express 4?
