I am replacing a 15.6" WXGA LED LCD on an ASUS U50A laptop ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220756 ) The process seems simple enough judging from this video ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7vSFvHphxM ) Now I am looking for a retailer that sells the replacement LCD. I've found a few around $150 from Amazon, eBay, and Laptop-Screens.com. (If you have a recommended and cheap retailer, let me know too.) However, prices seems to vary significantly ($50 - $100) on different models and brands with similar displays. I have a hunch that there is some price gouging towards U50A owners. :non: So my question is:

How generic are laptop LCDs? Is an ASUS 15.6" WXGA LED LCD the same as a Dell, or Toshiba 15.6" WXGA LED LCD? Are the input ports the same? Or in the same position? Or are laptop LCDs generally specific to each model and manufacturers custom build each LCD?

Thanks! 😀
