How good are these laptops?

Hello. I am looking to buy one of these two laptops. Can you please tell me which one is better and if I would be able to play games on them?
The first laptops is an HP Envy 15t-j100 with these specs.
OS: WIndows 8
CPU: Intel i5-4220m
Graphics: Nvidia 740m
Screen: LED 15.6" 1366x768
Hard drive:5400 rpm Hard Drive
Wireless Card: 802.11b/g/n 2x2 WLAN and Bluetooth® [2x2]

The second is very similar. It is a HP Envy 17t-j100
OS: WIndows 8
CPU: Intel i5-4220m
Graphics: Nvidia 740m
Screen: LED 15.6" 1600 x 900
Hard drive:5400 rpm Hard Drive
Wireless Card: 802.11b/g/n 2x2 WLAN and Bluetooth® [2x2]

The only difference is the screen. Would the screen on the 15t-j100 not be good enough for some games? Also, are there any other similar priced laptops that also have a Nvidia, but has a Dvd drive? Thank you in advanced!

Both will work for gaming. The hard drive is a little slow, but if you can handle slower loading times, you'd be fine with either. My opinion would be to go with option #2. The more pixels, the better.

Thank you for your reply. I have discovered that the processor is dual core. Will being dual core make it ever not be powerful enough in the future? Or will it make my laptop hotter because the cores are being used more?
