How good is my pc for gaming?

my system specs are-

cpu: dual core e2180 @2ghz
ram: 4gb ddr3
graphics: asus nvidia gt 730 2gb ddr3
motherboard: g41 combo
os: win 7 32bit

when i play games like fifa 14, it gets stuck even at low resolution. is it only because of my poor processor? if so, which processor should i look for? (my motherboard doesnt support i series)

is my other specs okay for average gaming?

Your PC is pretty weak for gaming honestly. You have an old dual core cpu and your video card is only about as strong as the newer Intel's integrated graphics.

if u just want to change the cpu, then try to go for core 2 extreme...something like Core 2 Extreme QX9770...
having said that, if i were u, i will rather save money to go for a full upgrade...

My best advice is to save for a mostly new build. You could reuse your case, hard drive, and peripherals for sure.

guyz i'm looking for a low budget upgrade.. so replacing almost everything is beyond my budget. dont you think that replacing the processor will make my pc an average 'average' for gaming?

by the way, is core 2 extreme better than core 2 quad?

No, because the gpu is good for 2d or very basic 3d. Dual cores are pretty useless in modern gaming (obviously the i3 with huperthreading the exception) and ram will be an issue.

the thing is that, I've been playing on my pc for around 8yrs and first installed the GPU before 6months (hats off to me)!!

so i am not that kinda gamer and a simple upgrade would do.

Cpu upgrade is one thing, but your gpu is awful for gaming. Really with newer games, I wouldn't recommend below a 950.

Now shall i go for core 2 quad q9650 @3ghz (quad core)? Found it on ebay for $54.

That is equal to a 1st gen. i7 or a 2nd gen i5. Not a huge leap, but it should give you something over and above your previous chip. But you wont be able to play recent games.

yes i understand. but that is one of the good processors that my mobo supports. so im going for it..
