How good is nvidia gt740m actually?

My roommate always keeps bragging about his nvidia gt740m gpu.He says that he can run games like "call of duty:ghosts",NFS rivals at "ULTRA" Settings.His laptops resolution is 1920*1280,8gb ram and some intel 3rd generation mobile cpu.

I am getting fed up from his bragging habits. I simply cant say anything just because i have a relatively weak lappy which has an amd gpu(amd 7640+amd 7670m) with 4gb ram.Please tell me what to do :..(

Basically useless, hardly any better than integrated and certainly wont ultra any of those games at 1080p.

The 740m can barely run NFS rivals on low and ghosts on medium and thats at a lower resolution. Looking at the becnhmarks I'd say 1080p would be unplayable at any settings with those games. Running those games @ 720p would be playable at med to low settings.

It definitely doesn't do 1080p, it does seem to do alright on low settings though:

Maybe he/you don't know what GPU he actually has?

thanks cooky,but how do i make him stop his bragging?...When i ask him to see the benchmarks,he says that the benchmarks are useless,they don't show the real world performance.He even said that amd's whole line of gpu's is nothing but a crap .I am not an amd fanboy but i can't take this b**lshit of his.He simply wants to prove that his laptop is better.

I even said that why he is comparing my $550 laptop with his lappy which comes close to some $900?
