They perform similarly to a 4850x2, which is strikingly close to 5870 performance.. So they actually do have high end performance :)

hybyprime - They do? Strikingly close to 5870 performance? According to the Tom's Hardware article a single 4770 did not do well against the other cards. It took two 4770's in Crossfire mode to smoke a single 4890. They never compared two 4770's against two 4890's. In fact, the 4770's were not compared with any other cards in dual mode. The way I understood the article it was the low price and low power consumption that really made two 4770's look good. At the time you could get two 4770's for $30.00 less than a single 4890.

thanks guys, make more sense now.. selling off the 4770 and getting a 4870. buying another one would come to the same thing almost, and with the 4870 also have to scenario of upgrading. But is dx 11 and the 5 series worth it?

Add a second 4770

Psychosays, get another one
good idea

I actually think you should just add another 4770
because if would, like they said here, perform more like gtx 280
and that's better than a single 4870
