How good is the 960 EVO?

Just bought one myself, but reading some reviews it seems this SSD burns out much quicker than other M.2 SSDs, literally.

Anyone with experience confirm or deny? I know it's fast, but is the quality good enough to last for at least a year?

Apparently it runs hot, and most of the bad reviews I read on it are consistent in that it fails 1-3 months after using it as a main drive. Obviously those two connect, maybe not for every instance, but almost every bad review on Newegg/Amazon had consistent heat/failure problems.

I'm just looking for some responses and experiences, bad or good. Sometimes reviews on Newegg and Amazon aren't from the smartest people.

960 EVO is fine. Newegg and Amazon reviews are from retards. The SSD doesn't "burn out".

runnin hot? just like cpu, they throttle down if they run hot

Yep, just like everything does. I'm not particularly worried about it running hot, I have great case airflow. I'm more worried about it failing. Would be something to spend $120 only to have the drive fail after 1-3 months use

Can call it what ya want but they are failing, too many reports coming in from too many sources for it not to be real ... to determine whose fault it is would require more resources than any of us likely have available. But real data does show significant differences inSSD failure rates between models.

Samsung's has the lowest average failure rate @ 0.24% over last 2 6-month data comparisons (about *35% of the HD manufacturer with the lowest failure rate - Seagate is about 0.70%) .... individual models vary with some having falure rates 5 - 11 times as much.

The 960 is too new to have statistically valid data and we wont see it included in ant failure rate comparisons for a while. The data in the above tests is based upon failures between 6 and 12 months of usage.

That's good to know. I doubt this garners much more attention since the 960 is so new, I doubt there's any legitimate accurate data on its failure rates, but I'll definitely keep watch on my 960 and do some more research as time passes.
