How good is the Samsung 840 Series?

Hi,
Been wanting an upgrade on my PC.
Saw a deal for $88 plus FS on atdcomputers.com. Its a pretty good deal. But any thoughts on the SAMSUNG 840 Series SSD 120GB? The website doesnt have any reviews.

go for the 830 series or 840 pro


these both have much better read and write speeds.


the standard 840 is a lot slower than the pro and the competition is cheaper for the same read/write

(i got a 256gb 840 pro with 500 read/write)

If that's more in your budget than the pro, go for it. Have one in my secondary PC and it works like a champ. The reads between the pro and standard are identical. The big difference is in writes but that's hardly an issue for a normal desktop user use (games, browsing, office products).

If you do write-heavy work, then look to the Pro or another drive with MLC NAND.
