How good will Half Life 2 look with a GF4 Ti-4600 128MB? Is it worth getting a new 9800 Pro for a game like this. I'm a huge gamer and just wondering how much better it will look and run.

I'd get a nVidia GeForce FX 5900Ultra... if THEY WOULD CHANGE THAT #()#@ HSF

It will look ok and run acceptable, but you can pretty much forget about running with any AA or Ansio to speak of.

A jump to a R9800pro IS a decent jump.
If you wanted to only jump to a R9600pro i would have said the difference wouldnt be good enough to warant an upgrade.

Probably the best thing would be to wait till the 9800XT comes out, as its introduction will force down the prices of the R9800pro and nonpro.

You said you were a huge gamer. What does this decision mean to you financially? That's what it comes down to. The jump to a 9800 Pro will be quite significant for future games esp. Half Life 2. It will look better AND run faster.

He said he was a "huge gamer" guys, which I take to mean "hardcore"... which means BUY A 9800 PRO!!!

What are the specs of the upcoming XT? Will I have to become a male prostitute to make enough money to buy it? Also, thanks for the responses. I think I will buy the game first and see the results with my current card. If I dislike the results I will buy a 9800pro.

Nothing amazing about the XT.
Maybe a few internal tweaks like the R9800 had compared to the R9700.

The only REAL difference is the clock speed:
R9800pro = 380/340
R9800XT = 415/365
(probably)

Most R9800pro's can overclock to the XT speeds or more anyway.
