How good will my pc be?

I'm currently thinking of upgrading my pc (budget about $3000). I'll be using it for 3D modelling, SFX, rendering fluid simulations, VR hopefully, gaming, then just basic tasks. Here's what I was thinking for specs:
CPU: AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1920X Processor
GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Gaming X 8GB
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX CMK16GX4M2A2133C13 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 Black x 2 for 32gb
MBD: MSI X399 Gaming Pro Carbon AC Motherboard
Storage: Samsung EVO 250gb SSD
Seagate Barracuda 1tb hd
PSU: Corsair CX650 650W 80 Plus Power Supply
Cooling: Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3 CPU Cooler
Case: NZXT S340 Mid Tower Case Black

Would this be good enough for what I want to do? Also, will it last the next few years?
Can anyone see incompatibilities?

Looks ok but I suggest waiting for coffee lake in 2 months. When i7-8700k 6 core comes out for $350 it should effect the pricing a bit. Also think about a differant power supply like this good tier 2 model.

Looks ok but I suggest waiting for coffee lake in 2 months. When i7-8700k 6 core comes out for $350 it should effect the pricing a bit. Also think about a differant power supply like this good tier 2 model.

Good advice, but will the 8th gen core be compatible with the motherboard? Also, Intel hasn't yet released anything on desktop processors

Also that combo uses quad channel memory so you would get a performance boost by using 4x8gb RAM rather than 2x16gb.

I noticed that the coffee lake processors only have 6 cores to the 7820x's 8. Will that affect rendering? Also, would it be worth investing in a Threadripper instead?

Yup it is higherclocked tho but the big thing is the price change. Should bring price drops on the X299 also. The 12 core threadripper 1920x is about 40% faster than the 7820x. The 8 core 1900x is also coming for about $550 on threadripper and possibly a 1900 even lower. The 1900x threadripper should be about the same performance as the 7820x.
