How hot can a Ipad, not sure about the version, can it it get before it shuts downs?

How hot can a Ipad, not sure about the version of it but I don't if that really matters , can it it get before it shuts downs?
The reason I'm asking is because the temp outside is around 35c.

This article from apple discusses only their 4th Gen and later products, but because you do not know the iPad version it was the best I could do.

It states that those devices can operate between 0-35 degrees Celsius. Regardless of the version I would be careful today, too much heat can/will damage the battery.
