Laptops always run hotter than desktops on average due to the lack of massive heatsinks.
Summary:
So to be clear, the CPU isn't even reaching the point at which it starts to throttle down to protect itself from overheating. Since the CPU can protect itself by throttling or even shutting down completely you can't wreck a modern CPU very easily.
