Not so much temperature as Temperature AND Frequency.


GPUs will boost as long as they have thermal and power headroom. A GPU operating at 75C running at base clocks or lower is still overheating or has other issues. If you see high frequencies like 2800-3000Mhz then the GPU is doing what it is supposed to do.

Typical Nvidia stock target is 83C. Other vendors can and do set lower/higher limits and these can be adjusted via software. MSI Afterburner being the most common. This will also allow for custom fan curves.

I use GPUz to monitor GPU related info. Typically only need to monitor on first tests to make sure stuff is running normally.

If the GPU is >75C, the GPU fans will ramp up and be pretty loud. Past about 80-85C the GPU will automatically reduce its frequency to keep temps in check.

Some AIBs have control software for their own cards. For the ones that don't, there's Msi Afterburner.

Also don't feel like you're vendor-locked to your GPU vendors' control software.

So nice on AMD the controls are built into the driver software.....ahem.
