How important are write speeds for gaming?

I've been looking for an SSD to use for my OS and games that I play pretty often and have narrowed it down to an intel 520 or Samsung 850 Pro. The Intel 520 is about $60 cheaper but has less than half the sequential write speed of the Samsung. Is it even worth spending the extra money on it or will it not even matter? All the other specs seem to be pretty similar.

Write speed will have little to no effect on gaming. In fact your hard drive speed overall will have little impact other than load times between levels and opening the program. Most games are optimized to minimize hard drive access during game play to prevent bottlenecking.

That having been said the Samsung 850 PRO is a much better SSD and will last much longer and perform better in overall application use. As an alternative you might consider going with a Samsung EVO series which are closer to the price range of the Intel and still offer solid performance.
