How important is it to get a good case?

I plan on building a gaming pc and keeping it for a long time with upgrades and the such. My question is should I get a better case ~$100 or would a cheaper case ~$50 suit me just fine.

Thinking about either a cooler master storm scout 2 or a rosewell challenger

Thanks!

Yea it is, i mean if you want to use SLI crossfire which will happen in the future then i recommend something like mine.

Its an XL atx, it has 2 huge fans as large as my head which can be adjusted and you can place ANYTHING you want in it.

I fitted in a normal ATX motherboard in it and it fits watercooling blocks, noctua engines and other stuff, this case will cool QUAD crossfire no problemo.

I have SUCH low low temps its ridiculous, 50 deggrees Celsius on my videocard on load! 50 dollar cases are so so bad if you plan to upgrade later.

It will pay itself back though cuzz of the SLI and...
depends, do you like flashy stuff. will people even see your case, or is it hidden under a desk. are you on a tight budget where that extra $50 could towards a better video card or more ram instead?

When I was younger, I liked the flashy case/lights/everything. After a while, the lights get annoying, I don't care what it looked it, it was about what's inside and how well it performed for me.

Unless you are massive overclocking with all kinds of liquid cooling and need tonnes of space for that and space for 3 video cards and 7 hard drives, any basic case will do fine. Fan in the front and back to have proper airflow and you're good.

That's my opinion anyways. I rather have a better video card than a fancy case.

It's my first time building so I kind of want something a little flashy cause you know... And I'm not on that tight of a budget. I basically have my ~$800 build ready to buy and am just deciding if its worth it to shell out another $50 for a better/more expensive case.

Thanks for the help though.

Thanks, I'll take a look. Though I don't plan on doing any water cooling or anything of that sort.

Now this is definitely a reason why I would choose a case that's a bit more expensive over one that's a lot cheaper. Things like cable management are important too because when you hide your cables, it allows to improve the overall air flow circulating throughout your system and will provide it with a far longer lifespan than if you didn't.

Does something like the cm storm scout 2 count as something that has good cable management?

I like sleeper cases, so I went with a Corsair Carbide 200R. Not the best airflow, but there are plenty of spots to put some big quiet fans. Easy to work with, and the price is right: around $50 after all rebates.

Question from me, how important is it to keep the back of the motherboard cool (processor backplate).
I got so much cables that even i have a huge case when i touch the right side of the PC i can definitly feel warmth?

Should i mod it right now and drill some holes?
