How important is voltage regulation?

So I bought a power supply, I won't name it because I want the thread to stay on topic. Anyway, the power supply is supposed to be great; it's got excellent ripple suppression, the soldering is "so-so", and it's 80+ Gold, and I got it at a great price for the efficiency. The thing is though, when I read the review on JohnnyGuru, it said that the voltage regulation was "strictly average". Now soldering was also rated as so-so, but that won't really be a problem. But I just want to know, is voltage regulation important?

i think you just need to be concerned about whether its a solid power supply or not. there are plenty of articles that you can google to find the answer to your ultimate question. johnnyguru is a good place to start. he seems to know dang well what he's talking about. if the PSU is worth anything then you will probably find some reviews on it. i'd probably also wager that voltage regulation may be kind of important when it comes to electronics.

Becomes more of an issue if you are overclocking on a motherboard with poor regulation. If you are not doing any overclocking and it's just an average pc, with/without a graphics card for games don't worry about it.

Since you asked, it's a Rosewill Photon-750. I'm so skeptical about it, I mean JohnnyGuru rated it 7.9, but it was only for stupid stuff mostly like CPU connector isn't compatible with PCI-e connector (they're different colors, so it's pretty damn obvious), and value, which I think I got great value because I got an 80+ Gold Power Supply with great ripple suppression and does well under load for 90 bucks, but still it was rated a tier 3 unit.

Yes, voltage regulation is important (over-volting can lead to decreased lifespan of components, under-volting can cause stability issues or a higher amperage draw leading to component damage). However, if it's generally rated as a good PSU, and only a particular reviewer doesn't like an aspect of it, I wouldn't worry about it (if TechPowerUp have a review for it, I'd go with that).

Well my motherboard is an MSI Z97 Gaming 5, it's an 8 phase board, and I'll be overclocking a 4790k to 4.7-4.8 GHz if I'm lucky, overclocking my memory a little, and maybe overclocking my graphics card. And like I said in my last comment, it's a Photon 750
