How install drivers for TASCAM US-428 in Windows 8?

Use the vista 32 or 64 bit drivers, depending on your windows version. Install the exe, it won't find them, reboot, connect the device, let it find the drivers. it will say they're not signed, but that's fine, install anyways, and let it install the 3 or 4 drivers it needs, and you should be good. I have a US-428 too, and after 11 years or so that I've had it, it still works fine for what I need it for and works fine in Windows 8 with the Vista drivers.

install the 64bit driver ver. 428 turn on and connect the 428 and if you win 7 or 8 can not find drivers automatically go to - control panel - system and install manually (428 is here as an unknown device) path: - c: - Program Files - us428 and confirm - --- WORK 100%! ---

Hi, in case anyone else reads this thread, I set up my US-428 on Windows 10 this morning and used it with Wavelab Pro 9 - no problems, sounds as good as ever (didn't realize my Scarlett 2i2 doesn't have a digital input!)
I used driver US428_Win_3.40f.exe - here's the procedure:

1. IMPORTANT - don't connect the US-428 yet
2. With the driver exe file, right click, Properties, Compatibility
3. Select: Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows Vista (yes Vista, don't choose anything else)
4. Select: Run this program as an administrator
5. Click OK
6. Double click US428_Win_3.40f.exe to run it
6. Click through the usual install options
7. You'll be prompted to install TASCAM device software - click Install
8. Click Finish at the end.

Connect power and USB cable to US-428 and switch on.
Tascam's USB light should be on - job done. US-428 should now be available as a audio device.

If installation does not complete, go to Device Manager. Find 'Unknown Device' right click it and update its
driver. Get Windows to search for the driver and it should do it (takes a while though). A restart may be required.
The installation should then complete.
