i have a Geforce GT 1030. it says it needs 300 watts as a minimum power requirement but my computer only has a 240 watt psu. So can i get a better graphics card or am i stuck where i am?

(My system)
Intel core 2 quad Q6700 @2.66(when gaming it is @ 3.3ghz)
8gb of DDR2 ram
240 watt psu

Solution
CPU 105W at full
GPU 30W at full
leaving 105 W for the rest of the system.
it should work, the 300 requirement is because some 300W PSU only provide 200 or less. by saying 300 they are covering their butts legally speaking.
with your CPU at stock you could go to a 75W GPU like the 1050 ti

upgrade the PSU and get a 1050 TI . You need some breathing room in terms of wattage 550+ recommended

Sadly my computer is a Compaq DC7800 slim. They dont make any upgrades for the psu. In this quote it says i could go with something like that.(it will be the slim version for my computer) I do have a another power supply that is a 400 watt but the problem is again it wont fit because the power supply in the one i have is a really weird looking one.

Would it still work if I don't upgrade it or should I make more of test bench(that would be more permanent)to use as my computer so i can add a bigger power supply to it?
