How is text look on a 27" 1080P monitor?

Apparently a 34" 2560x1080P monitor has the same PPI as a 27" 16:9 (correct me if I'm wrong) and while the monitor will be used for gaming like 80% of the time I like to spend a bit of time here on TH and was wondering if the text is blurry or is it fine? I know programs such as Cleartype can sharpen it a little bit or if I need to i'll zoom a little bit in. I've heard a mix of answers and not really sure what to trust. The display when I check it at Microcenter was set to the incorrect resolution so it didn't really help.

My options are 29" 2560x1080P or 34" 2560x1080P, 3440x1440 isn't a option.

I'm sure it's not a 100% accurate comparison, despite the same(ish) PPI.

BUT, I run a 27" 1080p monitor: VP279 and I wouldn't say it's blurry at all.
Admittedly, 1080p is the 'best' I've experienced in a monitor (never used 1440p nor 4K) so maybe there would be a completely noticeable difference if you stepped down from either resolution....

Normally I would but I really prefer my 21:9 ultra wides for the extra peripheral view and my games support it (love the immersion). I've looked at 3440x1440 however it's like $150 over budget, wouldn't really pair well with my RX 580 4gb (just bought) and I really need to dump this 20" 900P Hannspree lol.

Ok, that makes me feel a bit better. I've gamed on a 4K HDTV via my previous system and didn't really notice it being different then my previous 29" 2560x1080P but the viewing distance was quite different (arms length on monitor and about 6-7 ft with the 4K HDTV 49").

When I go back to Microcenter today after work I'm going to see if they can hook up the 34" correctly (I think they were using DSR/VSR before) at 1080P and post some reading materials so I can actually see what I'm getting.

I believe this is incorrect. The 34” monitor has a PPI of 81.72. The 27” at 16:9 has a PPI of 108.79, which is a considerably higher pixel density. You can double check here:

Thanks for the link, 1080P @27" is actually coming up at 81.59, 34" 2560x1080 is coming up at 81.72 which is pretty close.

So I finally got it hooked up and wow, this thing is awesome, glad I got it. For my distance from the monitor (just over arms length) the text appears fine. The only issue is that I can't seem to find where to change the refresh rate as it's suppose to go up to 75hz.

No option for it in Radeon Settings no Radeon Additional settings.
