I plan on getting a nice cooler in the near future. Just wondering what the stock cooler can handle? I'm definitely not OCing until I get a better one though.

None of the 2011v3 chips do (aka X99 platform). Intel assumes since you are willing to shell out $600+ you can afford a cooler.

Intel does however sell a 2011 socket cooler and its 100% crap. Don't waste $30. It glows blue and that's about it...

I'm having another issue. I'm on Newegg right now. It seems in lots of the coolers the description doesn't say anything about 2011-v3. They have most other sockets exept that one. Even the 212 EVO only has the old 2011. Yet I'm reading other places about these other coolers still being compatible.

The Cooler Master EVO is a great little cooler if you aren't overclocking. That $30 cooler will take you along way, even a slight overclock and stay below 75c.

FYI, Any 2011 cooler works on 2011v3. Same socket holes mounts and size. Some companies haven't updated their descriptions or they are simply trying to sell you a "newer version" when in fact it is the same.

It's only going to be temporary. But I've seen that with push-pull you can get a decent OC out of it.

I pushed the i7 3930k to 4.4ghz on the EVO and only hit 82C. a little higher than I prefer but I got it on sale for $20 a looong time ago. In fact i'm using it right now on a i7 3960x while I wait for some watercooling parts to come in. sits at 55c on load @ stock 1 fan. remember ivy bridge get a bit warmer (aka 4xxx) because of the die shrinkage.

It comes with the mounts, but you will need to buy a second 120mm fan since only ones included.
