Also keep in mind that the laptop hard drive may cause both mounting and connection problems as it will be a 2.5 inch or smaller size and sometimes, however rarely, laptop drives have non standard connectors. It will most likely be fine but worth checking before you commit to buying the other parts.

Skylake will be a new socket. Broadwell will be compatible with all H97 and Z97 boards though.

Unless you're specifically planning to upgrade to an overclockable cpu and do some overclocking then that sexy mobo is just inefficient spending
