For a general use machine perhaps an i5 4690k would be just fine, in gaming there is really no difference between the i7 and i5. Would get an SSD for the OS and some apps/games also, it really makes a difference in overall system responsiveness, maybe something in 228Gb or 256GB, the Samsung 840 EVO are a great deal now.

I would stay with the 750W so you could SLI down the road in a year or so when you need to. It's the best upgrade path for the 970 as it's a very new core and should have good shelf life, you may want to go with 3 screens someday or new games in a couple years may need the extra punch..


Which area would you mostly use it for? gaming or editing? If it is gaming, you could get an i5 4790k instead and also, are you going to be using wireless connection a lot? Because if not, you don't need that mobo.
