Hi,

I wanted to copy that gaming build from this Linus Tech Tip's video, but in a more compact size: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMRvz_IYSgM

Here's what I came with and I want to have your comments before I buy all the parts:

Case: Corsair 350D w/ Corsair AF140 Quiet Edition fans

CPU: Intel Core i5 4670K Haswell 3.4 GHz

Cooler: Corsair H100i w/ Corsair SP120 Quiet Edition fans

MB: ASUS Z87 Gryphon TUF

GPU: ASUS GTX 780 (same card as in the video)

PSU: XFX Pro Series 650W BRONZE

HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2 TB

SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 120 GB

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8 GB @ 1600 MHz

Solution
I wondered about the GPU myself, but after looking at the case he'll be fine. Newegg says it supports up to 380mm long, and I see how. The CPU cooler height is listed at 160mm. I'm not sure on the H100.

As for changes I only see a few minor tweaks. First, I wouldn't get a bronze PSU for this. Get a good gold rated 450-500W PSU. Will probably have the same if not more usable 12V power, but because its gold and not bronze it won't pump as much heat into your case. I would also bump the SSD up a bit. When I was "done" installing win7 most recently, I was using about 50GBs of my 128GB SSD. Assuming you are going to put your games onto your SSD that doesn't leave a lot of room for the games. I don't have any issues as my steam...

I dont think a H100 will fit.... nor a 780

I don't have any issues as my steam folder in on a second 256GB SSD. But you might find you have a space problem with a single 120GB.

Why would they not fit?

Why go with a tiny case.... We are saying that the GPU is too long to fit inside said case. same with a h100

I know, but here is an image of a 350D with a H100 and 2 long cards, I think this is a 350D anyway......
"The 350D comes with a 140mm intake fan and a 120mm exhaust fan, and there are mounts for five total. The front and top mounts are spaced for 240mm radiators for more cooling options."

The longer cards fit because the 350D only has one short hdd cage. There are other cases that can fit long cards, but you need to remove the upper cage. This case only has the one. The H100 can fit because the 350D has mounts for water cooler rads up top. In the pic you can see the hoses on the CPU cooler going up to the top of the case. This is a smaller cases that is per-designed to accommodate larger parts. He'll need to worry about any super long PSUs, and use large drives as he is limited on space for more then a few. Otherwise it's personal preference/his choice if he wants the case. I personally would never run something so small which is why I bought the HAF XM, but not everyone agrees with me and I'm ok with that.

I like big. There is a reason its under my desk, having tons of clearance. BTW, i only have a 400R, i want a Huge 600D obsidian..

You and I would be in agreement. But the OP feels otherwise. Cases are a personal choice. So get whichever you like. But that 350D should be able to handle long cards and AIO water coolers with the rad screwed in up top. It's not the way I would go, but up to the OP if he likes it. (I like cases that I can add whatever I want in, without worry about if I have room. I have/had a lot of hdds, and could never get them all in that case.)

It looks like the OP has abandon this thread, just us discussing cases :)

Well, since we are I may as well add my 2-bits. The 350D is a very nice case yet not one I would get, as you say cases are like cars, just a matter of personal taste. I like the mid size cases, like the FD Arc Midi R2, it is plain yet can stuff about anything one may want to in it, like the 140mm fans all around and room for a couple of 240 radiators both in push/pull, a 360 up top with a bit of snipping.

Perhaps he will be kind enough to give one of you a solution for your help on this, if he is still watching.

I think he was a one time poster.

Also, why on earth do people want like..... Bitfenix prodigy cases with awe inspiring gaming power? I mean a tiny Lil box doesn't look so impressive, I see the point in it but..... Why bother when you can get better.... Oh well I suppose I am that one guy who thinks going 2011 on a new gaming build is crazy.

I can sorta see the point if this is your lan box. Lot easier to haul around something small/light. But then I'd want a case built for that and that includes having a handle. But as above, this is a personal choice. So whatever his reason is it makes sense to him.

Have you seen that new lab box from cooler master, one of the haf series. It does 3 way sli xfire and holds massive stuff. Its one of those two layer ones. I find that appealing , except that there are no plan parties in northeast Ohio.
