How long can laptop keep working if battery is dead

My battery died a few days ago so I've been using it plugged in since then. It was on 50% battery life but every day it drops 1%. Now it's 46%. Will the laptop keep working while plugged in even when it's dropped to 0%? Thanks.

What laptop? Someone might know. Some laptops can run without a battery, others need a functioning battery.

Make and model + SKU of the laptop in question? You might want to stop letting it limp and potentially inflame the battery and damaging the laptop(or worse an explosion) by replacing the battery with a genuine part for said laptop.

Usually. Most laptops work fine(plugged in of course) even without a battery.

Thanks for the repies. Make and model is Lenovo ideapad 100. It s's about 4 -5 years old. I would remove the battery but unlike my last laptop it's not a battery you can slot in and out. It needs to be dismantled. Will it damage the laptop if I don't replace it? Thanks.
