How long do you think the 4690k will last me

I'm debating if I should wait for Skylake or just get a 4690k now. Do you think I can use this cpu for 3-5 years before it becomes a bottleneck based on previous trends?

Solution
If you wait for the next best thing, you will wait forever.
If your need is now, buy now.

Game designers want a large market so they will not willingly design a game that needs a top end cpu.

If you can afford the extra $100, buy a 4790K.

Intel will not offer a replacement unless it is a better performer at a better price, I expect skylake at stock to be perhaps 10-15% more effective.
The big question is how well can it overclock.

I bought my 2600K the week it was released in January 2011 and overclocked it to 4.5Ghz. Finally with the i7 4970K Intel has released a CPU that very slightly beats my overclocked 2600K at stock speed. A Haswell CPU will last years. That being said Skylake is right around the corner with August as the projected release date and I would wait as it's supposed to be quite good with the IPC increase being compared to how good Sandy Bridge was at release. It's what I'm waiting for.

I have a Core i5 4690K myself and I expect to keep it for 3 to 5 years. Upgrading every year or two isn't worth it because the hardware just doesn't usually improve enough to justify the cost to upgrade. Also the software doesn't get so much more demanding that you can't run it at reasonable speeds.
