How long do you think this rig would last me before upgrades?

As the title says, how long? These are the specs:

i5 6600k (don't plan to overclock)
H110M-S2H
Arctic i32 CO cooler
GTX 980 (reference)
120gb SSD
500gb HDD

I play light games such as overwatch, CS:GO, gmod, Payday 2 etc., but I am planning to start playing more demanding games like Battlefield 1, the new star wars battlefront, GTA etc. I fear that the 4gb VRAM will not be enough because I plan on keeping this rig for 3-4 years without upgrading.

Yeah two things stand out as a possible issue for 3-4 years...As you stated the GTX 980 only has 4GB. 4GB barrier can be busted in some games at 1080P now and that list will only grow. The other thing I see is going with a 4C/4T CPU like the i5 6600K. There are plenty of games that now use 8+ threads...BF1, Watch Dogs 2, Ghost Recon Wildlands, Witcher 3, The Division and GTA V to name a few. These games can all be bottlenecked by a 4C/4T CPU. I have been helping people for months now with i5 bottlenecking issues in all the games I mentioned. Most went with a 4C/8T CPU drop in but some upgraded to Ryzen 6-8C/12-16T CPUs. Point being adding more threads almost always fixed their issues. 4C/4T gaming just isn't what it use to be. I would...

offtopic: yes i see many are not recommending i5's...jumping from the pentium to the i7...interesting.
