[SOLVED] How long does Tier 1 PSU stay Tier 1?

People always suggest buying a Tier 1 PSU to avoid damaging your PC and I agree with that. But I’m wondering that if a Tier 1 PSU is doing you a good job, shouldn’t you would just want to buy a 3-4 years old Tier 1 PSU to save money? Because a Tier 1 PSU eventually will lose its value/price over time.

Simple question: Will my PC be safe if my PC is operating on a 4 year old Tier 1 PSU?

If I’m correct, many people today still buy the Corsair CXM for their new built. Is this saving a few dollars?

I would buy a new decent PSU, because like all hardware there is wear and tear. Last place to skimp is on the PSU. It protects and runs your setup. Would you want a new pacemaker running your gear or an old one running your gear.

What if I was able to find a brand new 4 year old tier 1 psu? Still not safe enough?

Sure is fine , there is still a lot of great older stock on the market. As long as they are solid make and model power supplies that's fine. Don't buy used or so called "open box."
