Hey guys
I'm going to build a ryzen pc and will be buying R5 1500X along with msi B350 M pro VDH mobo
Since I've heared that amd cpu's take a while to load bios for the first time and read a few threads about ryzen not giving any display (tho they were old and the issues might be fixed) so I'm a little nervous.
How has your experience been with ryzen 5's first boot ...how long did it take?
Also does intel also have this delay in the first boot?
Thanks

I don't have Ryzen 5 (can't comment on those) but Ryzen 7 used to take a minute or two to boot. This was the first 2 weeks of release. Newer BIOSes has it down to seconds. And not displaying anything? That "sequence" could last up to 5 minutes in the past. It's down to 30-60 secs now. Only happens if I screwed up badly with BIOS settings.

How about Kingston HyperX fury (black if the colours make a difference idk tbh) ?
I'm seeing a lot of people having no post with R5 1600 with corsair RAM 2 sticks and msi mobo in most of them and only few were solved by changing the ram or trying different slots...this is a headache

With fast BOOT on, POST time set to 1 second and SSD, on may 16000x and Asus Prime x370 Pro it's 37 seconds to full use of W10, 27 to desktop. It's about 5 seconds from Start button to W10 start.

Crucial ballistix should be fine I guess.

it's super fast if setup properly,
you need to load your proper memory settings and disable boot training (waste of time, and cause re-post and no display)

on my asrock ab350 I have

Addon RomCard Display -> off
Advance Boot Training -> off
Suspend to RAM -> off

I post 2sec plus 7sec or less to get to the desktop with m.2 x4

well there's no 3000mhz for Ryzen, it's either 2960 or 3030mhz, in any case -> two dimms you'll be forced at 1T so all that fancy expensive memory that is rated at 3200mhz or 4000mhz is worthless because that's at 2T 🙂

-> 4 dimms you can run 2T but the extra load on the crappy Ryzen memory controller will result in garbage memory speed prob close to sock 2000mhz

I actually prefer lower speed memory at 1T with gear down & bank swap off for better latency and system responsiveness

i would go crazy waiting 37 secs to get to my desktop ! my ryzen m.2 x4 less then 7secs to get to the desktop from power button
