Question How Long Should Formatting Take with an M.2 to USB Adapter?

I am currently trying to format a new SSD with my laptop by connecting it with an M.2 to USB adapter. I'm using the Windows Disk Manager to format the disk, and it has been going for almost 24 hours now. Does anybody know how long this should take? Should I be doing something different?

Full format or Quick format?

A Full may indeed take a loooong time.

Full format. I'm setting it up to install Windows 11 on my tower, and I read that you should do a full format before installing.

Quick format is perfectly fine. It takes seconds.
You should avoid doing full format on SSD.

And a Quick format would have done just as well, if you really needed to.

Its just additional write cycles that are not needed.
