hi guys, i had a question ,i have overclocked my system to 2.7ghz from 2.4ghz ... so my question is how long will the cpu live ? since i heard if u overclock your cpu the life time will decrease .. so what the time range we are we talking over here? 1 or 2 years ? and is this theory proved?

my system :
p4 2.4 533 mhz
Asus p4pe mobo
512 ddr 333 spectek ?(running at 375mhz)
seagate 40GB 5400rpm
pioneer dvr-A05
Lg dvd rom
Lg cdrw
Geforce 4 mx 440 64mb ddr
Pinnacle dc10 plus
Standard casing with 400 watts

Depens on your cooling temps and if you increased the VCore.

But your CPU will be changed long before it dies... unless you plan to use this system for more then 10 years.

My dual-PSU PC is so powerfull that the neighbourhood dims when I turn it on 😱

exactly what was just stated !!!! And, if you push your vcore past 1.7, then you could end up with what is known to p4 o/cer's as:sudden death. So, if you keep it lower, like my p4 2.4a @ 2.76,(vcore at 1.6), has lived 6 months now , and screaming well!!!! Plus, in less than 2 years from now, most people will have upgraded anyway. I know I will.....!!!!! I don,t know of ANYONE that keeps their proc., for more than 3 years....(business sector---not included!!)

Since 1998;have the following systems in my house,P75,CYRIX PRO 200,AMD 350,AMD 500,P3 800 EB,and my current P2.4a. the 800 and 500 are being used by my kids.....they can't wait for me to upgrade...lol

I also have the P4PE with a 2.4
your ram seems to be overclocked pretty far, haven't had the guts to do that just yet, on the other hand it's corasair cas 2 ddr 400 so there isn't much need to any way

I can oc my system to 2.88ghz without vcore change (160FSB) as long as no vcore changes are made i believe the cpu ife lis only degraded by 10% or so one guy told me that with the most aggressive oc 5 years will be a minimum (but think about it are you going to be using a 2.4 in 5 years thats 2008 iread a roadmap claiming 10 ghz by 2005)

anyway at 1.6vcore i can get up to 167FSB

It also depends on the kind of stepping or core you have just look on your cpu or the box it was in there are some numbers on there (mine is SLEF) on the intel site you can see when its produced , the more recent the better that means that your cpu will be a 3ghz that is clocked lower when i look at WCPUID it states that my cpu is hypertreading enabled (locked in the factory) and that the maximum achitecture frequency is 3.2ghz

i'm using a zalman 7000Cu for cooling and i'm running at 2.88, with the meme at 400 at the moment 41C idle and 52C load so this is pretty solid
