In short considering what Nvidia have done by cutting support for older GPUs (up to the 900 series as of current) by cutting active support and updates/drivers I have since used Intel DSA for my CPU (i7 8750H - Enhanced [shown through HWinfo])

That being said previously I would get updates from Intel DSA nearly on a monthly basis whether it was a iGPU Update through Intel Graphics Command Center or simply some other Intel based software on my PC (Killer Intelligence Center). The last update I received was back in October last year and for a while now on the Intel site for this CPU it has been marked as Discontinued for a while now.
In short:
- Has support for more older processor generations been cut (as in all processors older than 8th Gen, 10th Gen, etc...)?
- Are there "unofficial" solutions such as people who have made custom CPU drivers (considering that some people have made some older GPUs able to run AMD FSR on 20/30series cards)? - I do understand the risk that would come with this considering these would be unofficial drivers/mods

CPU support is on BIOS and OS level, BIOS updates go up to 2 years, after that anything new is unlikely. AMD FSR is on HW level but can only be simulated by drivers which doesn't seem to work in all cases. It also may be pointless with older HW.
Also keep in mind "Planned obsolesce", by the time we get HW it's already at least 2 gens behind.

If you're worried about CPU support, and you own an older system, then Linux might be what you need. The Linux community is generally slower than Microsoft and Apple, when it comes to dropping support for old hardware, though I read recently that Linux is moving towards requiring TPM 2.0, so you might have some problems there, too, if your machine is really old.
