How long will the 950 last

The GTX 950 came out a few months ago. I am wondering if it will last me 2-4 more years. I plan to use it at 1600x900 , but I might go 1080 in the near future

If you're not expecting unrealistic quality settings in game, then it should offer pretty fair performance at 1600x900. I wouldn't expect much past medium settings, if that, on any demanding games at 1080p, but less demanding games may do better. For the lower resolution I'd think you'd easily be good for several years if you aren't expecting to see high or ultra settings on any demanding titles.

negative 6 months. Unless you will be playing only 5-10 year old games at 900p, the gpu is already outdated.

Don't listen to this guy. Not everybody needs a GTX 980 TI or intends to play at Ultra everything regardless of resolution. Some people are perfectly happy with medium or high settings and turning unnecessary enhancements off. Granted, it's not even marginally a high end GPU card, but it's worlds above any current integrated graphics solution and there are plenty of people that game perfectly fine on systems with only an iGPU. Aaand there's a lot of games that will crush that card as well, so you'll need to pick your battles and adjust your settings accordingly.

Agreed. I sometimes play current gen games on my HTPC that has a GT 740 with just 2GB of vram. Granted I'm playing at medium settings and get about 40FPS, but it does okay. A GTX 950 may not be set up to run current games at ultra, but it shouldn't have a problem with the right compromises. Not everyone needs, wants, or can afford a TitanX.

And considering that the GTX 950 has significantly better performance than the GT 740, you can probably increase those numbers by a goodly margin. Not to mention throw in the fact that it supports features and settings not supported on that card.

To be perfectly honest though, considering the price of the GTX 950, I'd probably recommend it being worthwhile to save a few more bucks and go with a GTX 960 if your PSU will support it.
