How long will this laptop last?

So, i'm about to buy this ASUS ROG ZX50VW-MS71 laptop and was wondering how many years can I get out of it. I'm mainly going to use this for College and the odd game.

For running newer games on, you are already at the mid-range at most. In 3 years you will be at the low end of gaming.

The hard drive is slow now, you should get a system with a solid state drive.

For general use, it will run programs for 10 years with no issues, it's a good CPU.

If you are asking how long it will last without breaking, no way to know aside from the fact that ASUS is one of the better brands.

Overall, it depends on what your minimum expectations are when it comes to playing games. Naturally, the lower your expectations, the longer you can go without replacing it... unless it breaks.

It's good enough to play most games at 1080p with medium settings with good performance. As the years go buy you will find that you need to either lower the graphic setting and / or lower the resolution to get acceptable performance out of it when it comes to playing games.

As for the CPU itself... as hang-the-9, stated it can last a long time. For example, a stock speed i5-2500k (released in Q1 2011) with a modern GPU can still perform nearly as well as a current generation i5-6660k running at stock speed with the same modern GPU.
