Question How long would an external SSD last

To be more specific - the samsung T5 ssd 500gb. Im looking into getting one for university and want to know if its worth the investment?

Basically they "wear out" based on how much data is written and then rewritten over. and that can takes years and years and years.

Also you could save a lot and get something like a Crucial MX500, which for the 500GB model is on sale for 60 USD right now then put it in a External 2.5 Enclosure which runs maybe 10 or 20 bucks.
