How loud should my laptop HDD be?

I recently got an Asus rog gl551jw-ds71. The 7200 rpm hdd isn't that loud, I can't hear it when listening to music or watching videos. But I can hear the humming and very soft crackling noises in a quiet room. I downloaded the sound meter app and when I put it right next to the hdd area it's at 30-40 db in a quiet room. I tested it with a SMART test and HD Tune Pro, it tested okay.

Am I being paranoid? How loud should it be?

ps- my old laptop sounded like a jet so I don't know how a normal 7200 rpm laptop hdd should sound.
Thanks

Hi there Russell05,

As long as the HDD passes the S.M.A.R.T. testing, there shouldn't be anything wrong with it. You can just test it from time to time in order to keep an eye on its health status.

Also, keep in mind that you should keep you crucial data stored on at least two places.

Cheers,
