I predict that "several many" will get the 7th gen Intel. It not easy to get the exact number but it will be more than 100, absolutely definitely. Especially as it will have a lifetime of years.

I'm considering replacing my 3rd gen i5 with a 7th gen i3 or i5, not because I want more performance but rather, because I want to play with something new, and would like to move to an M.2 SSD and improve the heat and noise characteristics of my machine.

It actually be a good upgrade if users are coming from AMD FX 6/8/9 and A Series
or End of Line Intel i Cores
