I recently built a new PC with this motherboard https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07WC724Z7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and want to install more fans in my case https://www.amazon.co.uk/upHere-Com...9Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU= but i dont know if my motherboard can support more fans

My motherboard: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07WC724Z7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

fans i want: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product...title_oth_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

Fan splitters: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product...title_huc_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2HI77ZYQGGRR3

I want to get new fans but my motherboard is 4 pin fan connectors and some reviews on amazon say that its a 3 pin connection and some say its a 4pin connection will these work with my motherboard?

I am also getting the fan splitters because my motherboard only has 2 case fan connectors

Solution
There are two 4pin fan headers, in addition to the CPU fan header.

  • 1 x 4-pin CPU fan connector
  • 2 x 4-pin system fan connectors
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B450M-PRO-VDH-MAX/Specification

So, if you were attaching one to the CPU cooler, you'd have the appropriate amount of headers.

If you wanted to use the three as case fans, in addition to whatever CPU cooler you're using, then you'd need a splitter to connect two of the fans to a single header.

Example, you can get a two-pack for 6quid:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cable-Matt...litter+4pin&qid=1585322867&s=computers&sr=1-9

Or a four-pack for 7...

You'll see that within the splitter, only one fan maintains the four-pin (the other is 3), which is totally normal - one fan 'speaks' to the motherboard in terms of RPM, and the other follows suit.

@erniskunkys please keep this to one thread - it's the same discussion.

3pin fans will work on 4pin headers, just no PWM support.
The listing states
PWM Control:The PWM function allows the motherboard to run the fan precisely at its necessary speed.
so they should be 4pin. Wouldn't be the first time there was a misleading ad though.

Remember, reviews on Amazon sometimes relate to other products using the same listing - so it's possible that at one time, an older revision of the product was using this placeholder and were 3pins.
