yup, however, make sure you have more cores for background programs, including windows, so if you will only play minecraft and only have minecraft open, a 2-4 core cpu would be best.

You can install the "Optifine" mod and enable multi-core rendering however. Increases FPS by about 15-25 in my experience. Might be worth it if you're looking for a better experience.
