I ran the occt gpu: 3d test on my overclocked gts 450 (+77 mhz core and + 432 mhz memory) for an hour and it detected 229 errors. However, when I game at this overclocked setting I don't see any artifacts (Far Cry 4 and Watch Dogs). I am not able to sit through the whole test and check visually for artifacts, so i have to rely on the error detector. How many errors would it detect to be considered an unstable overclock?

Solution
No you watch it yourself. It's like less than 10 minutes and not too boring.

Obvious instability will result in driver crashes, freezes, BSOD, RSOD, GSOD, ect.
Honestly I never used OCCT for GPUs.

I always run a few loops of Unigine to check for short term stability and just game for long term. VRAM overclocking can be tricky. You can get over a certain threshold and it will cause errors and lower performance (so I tune it on the fly while running Unigine).
