How many fan headers does the gigabyte z170 hd3 have

Wondering how many fan headers does this mobo have, because i am planning to add about 2 case fans to the existing 2 of my spec 02, as well as the fan for my aib (fans for cpu does have a reserved spot right?)

Just need a simple answer, and i hope it is 6 or aboveexcluding the cpu fan ,so that i get to choose where to place it in case of short cables

I assume you mean the Z170, according to Gigabyte's website it has 1x CPU fan and 3x Sysfan headers. If you need more just buy a 3-pin fan to molex adapter, they're only a couple of dollars.

Based on the motherboard layout in the user's manual (found here), there are three. SYS_FAN1 and SYS_FAN2 are both 4-pin headers while SYS_FAN3 is a 3-pin header.

If i were to choosebetween:
- only 4 in total, would 2 intake, 1 exhaust and 1 radiator fan (and throwing the non led fan from the spec 02 away)

-buying an extra adapter (and i would'nt just find a cheap one, but something that can fit my build (appearance matters imo)

which one will be worth it.

personally i wont want to pay extra just to get slightly better temps, and i never liked the non led fan anyway, but i would like a second opinion.

Buying the adapter would probably be my choice. And cheap doesn't have to be bad looking. I use a few in my case and the adapter is behind my motherboard tray, I just route the power cord from the fan back there to connect to it.

Really depends on the ambient temperature in the room. If the room gets extremely hot, then I'd consider going with the extra fans. If you have air conditioning in your home, two to four fans should be more than sufficient.

if i find one, i will probably get it, but i wont specifically buy it, since my parts are arriving tomorrow, and i would like to have it set up (fully set up with everything installed) by sunday

There are also fan header splitters that let you run 2 fans off of one header. That way you still have speed control, as compared to getting a molex adaptor and plugging it directly to the PSU.

Then in the case you haven't built it yet, see how it performs first. For what it's worth I used to have 7 fans running on my PC, I thought more was better. I only use 4 now and I have seen no difference.

i guess 1 fan wont really affect the outcome much.

It depends where it is. Exhaust in the top and rear by the CPU are very helpful. Intake in the front is helpful. Fans on the side can sometimes make temps worse.

2 intakes at the very front radiator at the back, and 1 exhaust on top (if possible the furthest back, otherwise at the top of the centre of the case.
