How Many Fans Can it Support

I'm thinking of building my first PC and I've done a considerable amount of research and the only thing I haven't been able to figure out is how many fans can my motherboard support? It is a Gigabyte GA-970A-D3P ATX AM3+/AM3 Motherboard

I'm planning on buying a case with 5 fans pre-installed

Keep in mind that you don't have to plug the fan into the mobo for a fan to work. You can plug it into the PSU via molex. Only downside is that you can't control the fan speeds that way..they'll run on full rpm. I'd choose 2 or so fans to use this route.

What case are you looking at?
Some will have fans with 3 pin connectors that can be controlled by a motherboard, and others are direct psu connectors.
I count only two past the cpu fan.
It is possible to combine two fans on a header, but not to control them individually.

Normally, I prefer a fixed fan speed anyway. It is less obtrusive than constantly varying the fan noise.

What cpu will you be using?
This article suggests that a FX-8 cpu is not suited for use in that particular motherboard.
