How many gbs of vram should I have?

Hey! I'm looking to building my PC this Christmas, so I'm kinda a new to this stuff, I'm not sure how much gigs of vram I should have on my gpu to play most of the modern game titles such as Star Wars Battlefront, GTA 5, Minecraft, etc. I plan on only playing at 1080p at the most, if you want to recommend a graphics card to that would be great! My budget for the graphics card is around $160-$170

2 gigs is fine for most games at 1080p. for a gpu go for a gtx 950 or maybe a used r9 280x
