I am looking to buy studio headphone (specifically the Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro 250omhs) for mixing and mastering purposes, and I'm just trying to figure out whether my motherboard can handle it without needing to buy a headphone amp (or a sound card).

My motherboard is a Gigabyte x299 Gaming 3 Pro. I can't seem to find any information anywhere about the impedance.

Thanks

It's well equipped like the majority of boards. From what I could read, the sound chip is a decent one ALC1220.

Generally speaking, you'll always be better off getting a headphone amp. I would suggest buying one for that headphone set.
250ohms is very high impedance.

Can you link me a recommendation please? My budget for that would be about $250 AUD

A good start.
