how many platters are on these hdd's

i want to know if there are anymore platters on the 2TB to 3TB version because I ordered the 3 and then learned about the whole failure rate thing

and whats the difference between the wd elements and the wd my book

These have 1TB platters. The 2TB version has 2 platters, and the 3TB version has 3 platters.

whats the likelyhood of a platter failing and breaking because i read more platters equals more risk of failure
and im gonna be using this on my xbox one and i play a lot so i want as little risk as possible

now it says that these hdd use wd green drives and when i google 3tb wd green it says its 4 750gb platters so im curious where did you get your info

Seagate uses 1Tb platters, not sure about WD

The best defense to protect your data is to get 2 of these drives. Keep the data on both of them. If one of the platters in one dies, your data will be safe on the other drive. This is called a backup, and is the only real way to protect against data loss.
